What is Computer Based Training?

CBT is training that can be accomplished from your desktop or laptop computer, recently this has been expanded to include the possibility of having training material viewable on your Handheld Device too! We are looking into this technology currently, and expect it to dominate the industry in a not too distant future!

Computer based training is highly effective because you learn when YOU want to learn. You aren't tied to rigid class-schedules or appointments. You don't have to complete the whole lesson if you don't wish. Just hit "Pause" and return later.

We've been developing computer based training for quite some time now. We have an impressive list of courses that we've already developed, and we're currently working on some new projects that are scheduled for completion very soon..

Why is self-study at times better than classroom training?

Our self-study courses combine instructor led video lectures with workbook and computer-based training. We have found that utilizing more than one learning method greatly enhances a student's retention level. In addition, with self-study you own the material and may refer back to it again and again. In a classroom environment, if you miss what the instructor says, you've missed it, with our instructors being recorded, you may rewind as often as you like! Not only is self-study more comprehensive than classroom training, it is available for a fraction of the cost!

Desktop Learning Library™

What is the Desktop Learning Library™?

KeyStone's Desktop Learning Library™ (DLL™) contains a large library of IT training material—from desktop, to developer, to certification titles—in a multi-DVD-ROM set.

You will be able to start using your courseware in three easy steps:

If after previewing you become interested in purchasing another course on your disc, simply call or email us to arrange purchase. Another access key will be emailed and you won't need to wait for shipment of another disc. You'll instantly have access to more high-quality technology training. If you wish to purchase a course from another disc, you'll receive the appropriate disc and access key to add to your Desktop Learning Library™ collection.

What are the Minimum Requirements to Run the DLL™?

The minumum requirements to run the DLL™ are as follows:

• A DVD-ROM drive (internal or external USB2- or Firewire-connected),
• One-time Internet connection for product activation (56K or better),
• Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 (Internet Explorer 6 recommended),
• Windows Media Player 6.4 (the latest version of Windows Media Player is recommended),
• Windows 98se (Windows 2000 SP4 or better recommended),
• Pentium II 333MHz or equivalent or better (Pentium III or equivalent or better recommended),
• 128mb of RAM (256 or more recommended), and
• 800x600 Monitor resolution (1024x768 recommended)

How does the DLL™ work with a Lending Library License?

As described above, a Single User license comes with an access key that must be entered to activate the purchased courseware. In the case of a Lending Library, each borrower must also enter an access key to activate your organization's purchased courseware on their computer.

Again you will receive the DLL disc that includes the title you have purchased. If you order multiple courses that are all contained on one disc of the DLL, you will receive as many copies of that disc as necessary. For example, if you have purchased Microsoft Office 2003 Essentials, you will receive five copies of disc 9 of the DLL (as the courseware for Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word are all contained on disc 9) so you can lend Word to one user, PowerPoint to another, etc.

You will also receive a set of special Lending Library keys for your Lending Library discs. Each key is good for 30 days. If you run out of Lending Library keys, simply reference your original order number, ask KeyStone for more keys, and more keys will be sent right away.

All of our courses include one year of technical support.

How many hours of training are available per CD?

Do your courses include exams?

No. Our CBT (Computer Based Training) courses do not include exams. Exams are taken at approved centres. You can find the nearest centres to you by visiting www.vue.com or www.2test.com and following instructions / providing information about the certification and locations you are interested.

What are the licensing options available?

Single User License (Individual)
KeyStone's Single User License is a license solution designed to train one person on specific content regardless of the delivery format (VHS, CD, DVD, WEB, etc.). This particular license can be viewed as often as desired by the individual who purchased the license, and can be copied one time for back-up purposes only. This license does not allow the purchaser to share, transfer, resell, or load the software on a Network Drive. The cost to purchase this license is located by each course.

Lending Library License (Group)
KeyStone's Library License (also called 'Site License' or 'Employee License') is a solution to train more than one person, "one-at-a-time" similar to checking out a book at a library. It can be used in a media library or made accessible on a dedicated workstation. It cannot be loaded onto a Network Drive or a company Intranet. It also cannot be copied for distribution for resale.

Multi-User License (Networked)
KeyStone's Multi-user License is a solution to train two or more persons concurrently across a LAN. The course content is loaded on an accessible network drive and access is controlled through an administration utility. This utility allows the administrator, trainer or manager to manage usernames and password for each licensed user. Additional licenses can be added without changing the existing user database. This can be loaded on several servers if the licensed persons are in several locations. In addition, the utility has a light content management system with abilities to track course completion and report on any assessment quizzes that might be associated with the course (not all courses have quizzes). This solution is not designed for internet/intranet delivery loaded on a file sharing network. This solution cannot be used by anyone that is not licensed or transfer a license to another individual. The cost to purchase this license must be calculated based on the number of users. Please contact an Account Executive to get a custom quote for this type of license.

Why do I need to become certified?

By obtaining your certification you can provide recognized proof of your professional achievements. Being certified validates that the holder has reached a level of competence that is accepted and valued by the industry. These credentials enhance job opportunities, as some employers require certification as a condition of employment or for advancement opportunities. If you are self-employed, being certified will boost customer confidence and provide you with a larger customer base.
