For the majority of people classroom training or instructor led training is really their preferred method for learning something new. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have some time off work, maybe even stay away, to learn something new and help their career progression. Unfortunately, in most cases money is an issue either for the individual or the company who has to bear the costs of the training. Classroom courses can be up to four times more expensive than a self study course and may involve additional expenses such as travels, meals and accommodation. In current times, with everyone tightening their belts with regards to spending, training always seems to be the item selected as being unimportant to the general running of the company. However, the threat of losing good staff is always on a manager’s mind so if there is a way to provide training and keep their staff happy then the manager is going to be interested in looking at more cost effective training options.
Start your training project by researching the training courses available to you and see which course exactly matches your needs with regards to your current or future career. If you can contact other students who have taken the same course or who are currently studying the course this is a great way to find out about the best and worst bits of the training course you are interested in.
A training forum or training blog would be a great way to become part of a community that is interested in learning. Just have a quick search on the internet to find out which communities are available to you to join. Look for an active community with many members who are raising questions and making comments regularly. Once you are comfortable join the community and ask for advice or assistance. You will be astonished at the great response, help and advice you will receive.
Distance Learning is not for everyone so if you feel it is not for you then don’t worry – just find the right training solution for you and go for it.
